Relaxing Day at Sea 11-11-16

The Beautiful new Rainforest Room and a day at sea on the beautiful re-imagined Disney Wonder. What could be better?  You now have to use a wristband to gain access to the electronic door to get you inside the rainforest room.  When entering there is a tall glass wall with rocks and towels on either side.  When you walk around the back side is when you see the new chairs.  The room is really stunning.  Pictures are downloading really slow, so I am only showing a few here.

Now to be totally honest, the seas have been a little rocky. Winds at 41 knots coming across the decks,  but by mid afternoon, the seas have calmed and the wind has died down. I tend to get motion sickness but took a coup,e of all natural ginger tablets (purchased at Walmart). Sometimes I take a half of Bonine, but didn't bring any and seem to be fine. Dramamine just makes me sleep the whole cruise and on a four day cruise I don't want to just sleep the whole time.

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday is don't forget to sign up for your free 50 mb of free internet once you are on the ship. You must do by midnight the first day of the cruise. Be sure to turn off auto updates on your device. Instructions can be found in your stateroom in the desk drawer. Or you can go see internet dude on deck 3 by Promenade Lounge. The Disney navigator app also explains it.

In fact, now is a good time to go to the App Store and download the Disney Navigator App before your cruise. The App however will not be active until you are on the ship. You can also use the chat feature which is great to communicate with others guests and family members on the cruise. Personally I have started using the chat feature and no longer carry the wave phone around on the ship. Don't forget to refresh the App frequently for updates and changes  while you are cruising. You will put your device in airplane mode, and you are not charged for using the App on the ship.

Today we started our day by going to the Castaway Club Celebration. It was held in the Crown and Fin Pub on deck 3 forward. Only about 90 platinum and gold cruisers on this cruise. A lot of the officers came and visited and Captain Robert filled us in on the latest and took questions and answers.  Got our Mickey Rice Krispy treats.

Immediately after that we had reservations in Palo for brunch. Brunch is my favorite meal on any Disney ship in Palo. The restaurant has new furniture, lighting, window coverings and carpet.  I love the smell of everything new. Palo seems to be brighter with the lighter colors.  There is a new Palo brunch menu. The ala carte items are now ordered off menu.  I was able to get my favorite strawberry soup. It is no longer on the menu, however if you ask on the day you board with the Palo manager they will put in your request.  Don't wait until you go to Palo, do it beforehand if you have a special request like that.

Michael and I had a problem with the air conditioner in our stateroom, but maintenance was quick to respond and fix it and Guest Services sent us a nice note and 6 chocolate covered strawberries for the problem. Always exceeding my expectations. Thank you. Of course, the strawberries lasted less than 5 minutes since I only got 3 and had to share with Michael. LOL.

After brunch it was already 2 pm so I headed to the stateroom and actually started typing the blog.

At 3:45 Michael and I met in Azure for Bingo.  We were close, but didn't win today.

Headed back to the stateroom to spend 2 hours downloading pictures for the blog until 7:30 because the Walt Disney Theater was showing Dr. Strange. For those with younger children a showing of Pete's Dragon was available in the Buena Vista Theater.

Big change for pirate night. The pirate deck party starts at 7:30 pm with fireworks at 8 pm. I liked this change and I think it works really well for families with children. It is a brand new show and music and fireworks have changed.  I still like "I'll be a Hero", but this new music is a great refresh and I really like the pirate show.  Once I am on land, I can download the video I took of the fireworks.

The deck party ends at 8:10 which means we go right to dinner at Triton's with the new Pirate Menu.

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures.  Will have to do that on the next cruise.

After dinner we went for dessert and the Pirate buffet, then off to Azure for Match Your Mate.  There has been plenty of music all throughout the ship.  So there are all types for everyone.  In the Crown and Fin Pub, they did play an NCAA College Football Game tonight.

Here are today's Navigator.  FYI, when you board the ship you get a 4 page navigator.  After embarkation day, you only get 2 pages from that point on.  On the last two cruises I was on these last two weeks on the Magic and Dream, when I first had it on the Magic, I thought I wouldn't like the change.  But actually I have gotten used to the two pages instead of the 4 along with the two page insert.  Now basically it is just the two page insert.

So, that's it from the Disney Wonder for this writing.

As I end every day, no matter when I post, Goodnight from the Disney Wonder.
